And there is still snow....
Statistically over the last 19 seasons that I have been opening the course, the opening dates have been evenly split between the last two weeks in March and the first two weeks in April. This year it looks like tax time will come before golf time!
It has been a very busy winter outside. Lots of work was done at seven tee to clear out and clean up the area around and below the tee to open it up. The walls are complete and as soon as possible, the finishing work on the teeing grounds will begin. There is a great deal to do to make it playable.
There have been a number of trees removed this winter that you may or may not notice. In all cases, there were either structural defects or disease problems that required removal. In many cases, a defect or crack may not be known until something falls down as was the case last summer on eleven tee. Therefore we have to be more aware of the conditions aloft to best protect the course and more importantly, the players!
